As one of the key Electrical Engineering firms, Applied
Power and Controls, Inc. teamed up with DSD to perform
an Arc Flash Study for Ford’s Research and Development
Division. Our primary focus was the Research and Engineering
Center in Dearborn, Michigan; over forty (40) existing
buildings were surveyed and modeled to determine the Arc
Flash rating for every piece of electrical equipment over
150V. Also, included in the project was printing and applying
the Arc Flash safety labels. APC’s responsibilities included
field surveying approximately 25% of the buildings (a
total of eleven (11) buildings), ranging in size from
a small warehouse to the multi-million square-foot Product
Development Center (left). APC also performed 35% of the
Arc Flash studies, wrote 50% of the reports and responsible
for the quality assurance on the remaining studies and
reports.
